Day 16: Ten things

I followed a link** left by a commenter/fellow NaBloPoMo participant and found a suggested posting topic: “Ten things my readers may not know about me.” I thought that was a good idea – because it wasn’t mine.

(**Blogger wouldn't let me get back to the right page - some error somewhere - sorry Snoskred, I tried to link to you.)

So ten things about me:

1. I let my secondary education teaching license expire this year (English and history).

2. It took me eight years, three different universities, and four runs at it before I finally stuck to college and got my degree.

3. I crochet baby blankets when I cannot sleep.

4. I hated being pregnant.

5. I hated being a mother – until the ‘baby stage’ was over. Then I was ok with it (but now I am in the ‘rebellious teen stage’ and I think it would be a good idea to hit ‘rewind’ and start over).

6. Though I tend to complain a lot here, I don’t in real life.

7. I am a natural blonde – and I have an irrational fear of hair dye and ‘perm’ chemicals.

8. The last book I read was “Going Under” by Kathe Koja. Then I gave it to Banana to use for a book report at school. (One must read what one’s children read, I think.) (Excellent book, btw – I read it in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it even if it is considered teen-lit.)

9. Dyson is the only vacuum I have ever owned that has worked for more than a year. I think the thing likes dog hair.

10. There is no food I’ve tried that I didn’t like – which probably explains why I look like I do and wear the size I wear.

Bonus #11: I will only use 4x4 quad-pads, with faint blue lines like the engineers use, for taking notes in meetings or while on phone calls. I don’t know why.

So – are there ten things about you I don’t know? Put a link in the comments so I can read about you on your blog.

Number 7, northern_girl. I am an unnatural blonde at the moment. I've been dying my hair different colours for years and I'm sure the dyes have seeped through my skull and started to rot my brain. Or else I now have a technicolour brain and the necessary little grey cells can't function while red, or blonde, or black.

I'm gonna do it. What a great idea! I love stuff like this!

I haven't seen my natural hair color in 15 years. Last time I saw it I was dishwater blonde. THat could explain these issues I keep having.

Meva: I think that is why I'm scared silly to have my hair colored or permed - I don't need any more damage to my brain. I did enough of that in college.

Rootie: I'll stop by your blog - I'm interested to read what I may not know about you!

I'm so relieved to find someone else who doesn't dye their hair! I feel like I am really odd amongst my 'peers'. (I'm lucky that I've not really had many grey hairs yet... perhaps if I do go grey before I hit an "appropriate" age, I might relent.)

I am also afraid that once I start dyeing my hair, I'll have to keep doing it. Meantime, think of the money I save!!

Tracey: There is an aspect of maintenance, isn't there. I"m not that dedicated...or maybe I"m just too easily distracted. :)
